October/November 2007: Corporate Social Responsibility
Promotional support for SCILS CSR speaker series organized by Michael Bzdak of Johnson and Johnson and Professor Mark Aakhus. Connected to Aakhus seminar and questions of business ethics, sustainability, and global health, climate, and resource issues.

January 2008:
Peru Children Medical Volunteerism Group of 25 Rutgers students led by pre-med Wadji Kanj to Peru to assist in children's health care in clinic. Program under the auspices of Rutgers chapter of FIMRC, international organization dedicated to global children's health needs in the developing world. Program intergrated at Rutgers with information sessions and teaching workshops.

March 2008: Energy Contest
Information Sessions. Promotional and organizational support for Contest for Capping Rutgers Carbon Emissions, sponsored by the Rutgers Energy Institute. Institute awards grants (totaling $10,000) to undergraduate student groups developing workable plans to reduce Rutgers University carbon emissions.

Policy Forum/ Mayor Cory Booker Event to highlight the policy work and publications of the student-run policy think-tank Roosevelt Institution. Featuring talk and feedback from Newark Mayor Cory Booker. In conjunction with Justine Leven, Aresty Research Center, Lea Stewart, Livingston Campus Dean, and Josh Ontell of the Roosevelt Institution.

April 2008: Social Action Job Expo
Collaboration with Career Services to develop and re-target "non-profit" career fairs to include hybrid presentations of social action, global awareness and service along the lines of addressing the question of "making a difference" and "making a living" at the same time. Beginning with "speed networking" model.

May 2008:The New Philanthropy
Prospects and Challenges Panel program and workshop with Prof. Edward Ramsamy and Matthew Bishop of The Economist, on "The Business of Giving" with collaboration from heads of Global Literacy, Pingry School programs, and Fountain Baptist Church. Support from Douglass and MBA program.

Spring 2008: Engineers Without Borders
Support for group to pursue applied engineering projects in developing countries-bridge-building in El Salvador, water purification in Thailand, as well as recreational and playground building efforts in Newark. Project premised on completion of feasible designs for material solutions and workable means to publicize work to a larger audience. In conjunction with Busch Campus Dean Jeff Rankin and faculty from the Bloustein School of Public Policy.

Fall 2007: College Avenue Mission Website
Inauguration of new Rutgers campus website dedicated to the College Avenue Campus. General information and service links with special "Dean's Mission" highlight setting forth details and program areas of the Global Engagements initiatives.

October 2007: Jam Session
Public "Meet the Deans" program with live music played by Deans Tim Grimm and Matt Matsuda, with informational announcements, suggestion box, student open-mic, and tabling with student representatives from RUSA, Campus Council, Roosevelt Policy Institution, NJPRIG Voter Registration, and Writers House.

November 2007: A Future Beyond Genocide
Sudan Education Initiative program with guest speaker Abraham Awolich. Support provided for speaker fee and advertising and promotion. Program in collaboration with the Center for African Studies, the Graduate School of Education, and the Catholic Center. Organized coalition of student groups to support and co-sponsor the event: Amnesty, Oxfam, Hillel, and Salam: Muslim Students Association.

November 2007: Days Without Hate
Promotional and advertising support for Days Without Hate annual programs.

November 2007: Human Trafficking Awareness Day
Coordination, design, advertising support, and cross promotion for human trafficking programs: Kay Warren graduate forum and public lecture under auspices of International Studies; Rutgers University Campus Coalition Against Trafficking (RUCCAT) first annual coffee house and fund-raiser for victims of human trafficking; GlobalPACT and Ta To (activist filmmakers) program on trafficking in Thailand.

November/December 2007: Resisting Globalization Film Series
Coordination with International Programs and financial support for student organizations and speaker fees. First screening: Organs for Sale with Helen Delfeld (Political Science), Alexis Kennedy and Amari Verastegui (RUCCAT), speakers.

December 2007: Black Arts Seminar
Small honorarium to support Prof. Carter Mathes' invitation of artist and activist speaker Ted Wilson to an open seminar meeting on the historic Black Arts Movement.

December 2007: Tao at State Theater
Cross-promotion and introductory history talk for Japanese Taiko troupe invited to State Theater by President Wes Brustead. Rutgers pre-program organized by Zia Bartley.

February 2008: Meet the Filmmakers/ Master Class Series
Principal financial and organizational support for Writers House invitation of Ross Kauffman, director of Born into Brothels. Screening and public appearance by Kauffman on February 25th, 2008. Coalition of student organizations and research entities for associated tabling and information session action including cultural and political groups across the university.

February 2008/ Continuing: Resisting Globalization Film Series
Continuing coordination and financial support with International Programs for films on energy wars, global sweatshops.

February 2008: Music That Moves Opinion: Gospel
Shared financial and organizational support with Livingston Campus Dean Lea Stewart for gospel artists the Five Blind Boys from Mississippi. Based on the annual gospel festival organized by Angus Gillespie and supported by Douglass Residential College. February 22nd the Blind Boys will be on Rutgers campuses for classroom visits, programs, and interviews with students. The following days the Blind Boys will be available for additional programs tied to Black History Month and will perform in the evening at the Douglass Chapel.

March 2008: Ways of Water-Gender, Community, Health, Environment, Engineering
Member of faculty consortium and support to explore social, political, cultural, economic, and scientific use, meanings, and management of water as resource, art form, and object of study. Includes integrating multiple disciplines in programs, forums, and exhibitions under the leadership of Kayo Denda, University Libraries and effective use of library resources and spaces.

March 2008: Journalism in a Time of War
Promotional support for speaker event with leading non-embedded journalists sponsored by SCILS in conjunction with RAW.

April 2008: History, Race, and DNA
In conjunction with the Center for Race and Ethnicity, a public student-oriented forum discussing the truths and hazards of DNA evidence in tracing personal histories and family heritages. In cooperation with student organizations and with the Cultural Centers. Lead event for a two-day academic conference on the subject of history, race, and DNA.

April 2008: Design for the Elastic Mind
Cooperation with Cook Campus Dean Rick Ludescher to sponsor students and faculty to travel to and engage with Museum of Modern Art, New York exhibition on the integration of science, technology, design, and organic sensibilities. Part also of English Department's "Creativity Across the Disciplines" initiative and College Avenue Dean's "Creativity and Human Potential."

April 2008: Music That Moves Opinion: Folk
Program by Alison Isenberg (History) invitation to Charlie King and Colleen Kattau-teachers, activists, and long-time professional folk singers. Class visits and evening event of music and politics dedicated to activism, labor struggles, and Latin American causes.

Program proposed and under development with student groups, faculty support (Sociology), Asian American and Latino Arts and Cultures Centers to explore legacies and future of Chinese communities and leadership in Cuba and the Caribbean.

Initiative supported by student organizations, Professor Robyn Rodriguez, and Asian American Cultural Center to revive quarterly newsletter devoted to Asian American politics and culture.

In cooperation with Hillel and student organization consortium, a program of survivors and testimonies backed by petition signing, fund-raising, and classroom outreach.
